Janeth's Original Croque Cristo Recipe

A twist on the Croque Monsieur and Monte Christo sandwich!


Servings: 2 BIG sandwiches


INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 slices of Brioche Bread

  • 3 eggs

  • 2 cups of milk

  • ¼ cup of sugar

  • Butter

  • Sliced ham

  • Gruyere cheese

  • Mayonnaise




DIRECTIONS:

1. In a pan melt butter over medium heat. Whisk together eggs, milk, and sugar pour into a flat container. Dip your slice of brioche into mixture. Fry slice for 3 minutes or until golden brown, then flip. Fry the other side for 3 minutes or until golden brown. Repeat for each slice.

2. Place two slices of your brioche French toast on a plate and spread mayonnaise on both slices.

3. Add slices of ham and gruyere cheese on top of the mayonnaise and then place your two slices of French toast together. In a nonstick pan over medium heat, add butter to melt. Grill for 3 minutes and then flip your sandwich. Grill the other side for another 3 minutes or until the gruyere is completely melted.

4. Preheat the oven at 350 degrees. Place another slice of gruyere on top and bake your sandwich for a few minutes or until the gruyere on top is completely melted. Your Croque Cristo is now ready to serve! Bon Appetit!
